Biography


Karen Gorecki, BSC, MPP, 
Karen has fourteen years of experience in climate mitigation - researching and designing policy solutions and evaluating the impacts of programs. Her capabilities lie in research & writing, project management, public policy analysis, stakeholder dialogue, and facilitation & workshop delivery.
 
Karen is currently leading policy analysis and outreach efforts at Energy Efficiency Alberta focused on integrating energy efficiency into the utility system, enabling energy efficiency to bid into Alberta’s capacity market, and providing input into the AUC’s Distribution Inquiry.
 
Through her work in energy and climate consulting, Karen has led a diversity of projects such as: municipal GHG reduction plans, projects, and programs; strategic clean energy policy and planning; energy efficiency/clean energy policy analysis; and technology and market characterization studies.
 
As a Senior Analyst for Climate Change Central, Karen supported the development and application of energy-environment-economic models to guide a Conservation Potential Review and appraise policies and measures to improve energy efficiency in Alberta’s residential and commercial buildings. Karen contributed to the evaluation of Alberta’s $62 million suite energy efficiency programs.
 
Karen has a Masters in Public Policy from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria.
